YOGA AYURVEDA SACRED WALKS ACCOMODATION COOKING
  • Great gift

This is a jewel in Rishikesh which has many ashrams and spiritual centers. There are several amazing aspects to this center. It is located on the Ganges river basically and is super clean. As I mentioned above, and is the MOST important part, Master Shailendra is truly a great gift to the world. He knows so much and is so humble.

  • I asked for some lesson of meditation and breathing at some Ashrams in Rishikesh. Mr. Shailendra understood what I want to learn. I stayed this lovely place for over two weeks. My teacher Shailendra taught me a lot of things including trataka, jala neti, kapalabhati, nadi shodhana and some of meditation and asana. My small notebook was full of memorandum for what Shailendra talked. I got some vegetables and fruits and enjoyed cooking at a kitchen in the guesthouse. This stay is absolutely life-changing experience in my life. Back to Japan, still practicing and enjoying jala neti, some breathing and meditation.

  • I stayed for 3 weeks at this yoga center 2 years ago. It gave me a good and deep experience of Kriya Yoga. I decided to go back and organized a yoga retreat with my students, so this month our group stayed there for 2 weeks. It was truly a wonderful and fulfilling experience for me as a teacher. Everything worked smoothly from Shailendra’s classes to meals and helpful service from his sincere team. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the location couldn’t be better. I highly recommend this place for practicing yoga and for getting the Rishikesh experience.

  • I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend one month at the Vedic Yoga Centre staying as a guest and to study/practice yoga with teacher Shailendra. Whether you’re brand new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, there’s something to learn and experience here. He’s a wonderful teacher and human being – wise, kind, and humble. His devotion to the yogic path and way of life is inspiring and infectious, and he graciously and openly shares his insights and wisdom with students in classes and evening kirtan. I left at the end of the month feeling more peaceful and rested than ever, and empowered to continue my personal daily practice back home in California.

His brother Rajendra, who co-runs the centre with him is also very welcoming, along with the rest of the family who lives onsite. I enjoyed staying in one of the rooms facing the river, being able to wake up to the Ganga every morning was a real treat. There’s a shared kitchen available for guests to use, and with the vegetable & fruit stands right out front, it was nice to be able to make some simple home-cooked meals while traveling. The roof is open for use as well and offers a sweeping 180º view of the river bank. The centre is located conveniently near Laxman Jhula but on the quieter side away from all the busy shops. It was truly a blessing to have been able to spend time here and I can’t wait until I can come back.

  • I spent 2 months in Vedic Yoga center. Actually at the beginning it was going to be only one month. But I had such wonderful time there, that I couldn’t resist and extended it for one more month! My stay there was completely full of bliss. I felt very protected and safe. That’s important, if you stay on your own like I did. I’m grateful to the whole Shailendra’s family for their care. This is a very special place with peaceful and pure atmosphere. Everything is arranged for your spiritual journey. Yoga classes early morning, personal guidance of a real yoga teacher Shailendra, kirtans and discussions in evenings. And of course baths in Mother Ganges, walks in mountains. Especially I want to emphasize the quality of yoga classes. It is very traditional, authentic yoga that connects you to the essence of yoga, with true yourself. My daily yoga practice became very regular after attending Shailendra’s classes. It is really life changing experience. I know I’ll be back again!

  • If you want a genuine Vedic yoga experience, come to the Vedic Yoga Centre. The family who runs it are lovely honest people and the rooms are large, comfortable and CLEAN. But the most important part of staying in this lovely guesthouse is the yoga experience that is offered.

I have been coming to Rishikesh for five years, and I return each time to the Vedic Yoga Centre because it has given me a state of peace and tranquillity that I could never have imagined before. The teacher, Shailendra, is a dedicated yoga practitioner himself, and he shares his wisdom and knowledge in a way that is easily understood and can be applied to one’s own practice in a realistic way.

I highly recommend this guesthouse to any yoga practitioner. If you are a genuine spiritual seeker you should not give this place a miss. I can’t wait for my next visit.

  • Feeling enriched and grateful

Staying at the Vedic Centre during Spring these past two years has left me feeling enriched and grateful. The space is always well kept. The family show so much love and respect for not only one another but towards us and all of nature. There it is very easy to connect with the preciousness of each day. I will look forward to the next opportunity there.

  • This experience transformed my life

” After a long trip from France to India, I stayed 5 months in Rishikesh, in the Vedic Yoga Center. This experience transformed my life. I am so grateful for what I receveied. I am so lucky and I try my best to continue on this journey, because it is beautiful. Obviously, when I was back home, I wanted to share the traditional teachings passed by Shailendra and I decied to share it with teaching Vedic Yoga courses every week in my hometown.”

  • Hi fellas. I was traveling by bicycle in India and have stopped in Rishikesh. I was looking for Ayurvedic massage courses and only in this place, I found teacher who cares to whom to give his knowledge. Here is amazing atmosphere. Definitely, I found here not only a teacher also I found here friends and will come here again and again.

  • I stayed 1 week in Vedic Yoga guesthouse in Laxman Jula. Rooms are nice, clean, big. The owners are nice and ready to help you. I also took 7 days of massage course, great and you have the possibility to practice on your own in the massage room. Good place for learning massage and yoga.

  • I attended Shailendra’s Yoga Ayurveda Detox Program in Auckland and experienced an awakening week. I didn’t know what to expect but from the moment I arrived and met Shailendra, I felt a great peace wash over me. Shailendra handed us a schedule for the week ahead which consisted of an early start and for the practice of chanting, yoga, and meditation. I found the early morning ritual beyond invigorating. We started the day with lemon water and then we would use the neti to clear sinuses. A peaceful walk followed through the forest to the timber yoga room where Shailendra would lead our small group into chanting, yoga, and meditation. The day would also see the group learn about the ancient principles of Ayurveda. In five days we learned everything possible required for a healthy life and the balance of mind, body, and soul. I cannot recommend Shailendra’s retreats highly enough. He brings an authentic ray of light to any student to learn from his mastery. I left the week’s program beyond peaceful and filled to the brim with idea and teachings to continue my practice at home and to lead an optimally healthy life. It is hard to articulate just how profound such a program is and really needs to be experienced. It is life changing and I cannot wait to travel to India and do it all again.

  • It’s a very quiet and heartfelt place for living and really serious studying of yoga! I spent some months in this centre and I consider this time as the happiest of all my quite long period of residence in India. The wonderful family who lives in this house became very close to my heart, I found true friends and my view and relation to yoga was changed and extended. To live in one house with the teacher, every day to observe a life of a usual Indian family, to have opportunity to study traditional Indian cooking, Ayurvedic massage and to communicate with interesting people who come here from all over the world – believe me it’s not possible everywhere. I happened to visit and stay in different places in Rishikesh and other Indian towns but only here I could feel myself as at home and found the true rest in heart that before I didn’t feel long time….I strongly recommend this place to those people who … want to make deeper the practice of yoga, look for a sense and a correct way of living and really want to get acquainted with Indian perception of the world which still be in their hearts for a long time after home-coming…

  • I had 7 days for cleaning with Ayurveda. It was an amazing experience. I can feel my body is more light and more healthy, and every day I do yoga and practice. The teacher is very kind and patient with me, it makes me to like yoga. And this place is like a home.

  • I had a 2 week Ayurvedic package which included daily massage, daily warm oil poured on forehead, other assorted treatments, all food and medications; all administered by Rajendra. He was wonderful!! Also included was daily yoga class and Kirtan, led by Shailendra. What a wonderful family and location!!

  • Our tour group stayed at the Vedic Yoga Centre and tried out the brand new rooms that are beautiful as well as the stunning rooms upstairs with views over the town. What a helpful amazing family-run guest house, and the peaceful atmosphere of the Yoga and Kirtan and also exceptional Ayurvedic massages were very relaxing after a busy tour through North India.
