This amazing trek is part of a 14-day retreat at the Vedic Yoga Centre, which gives you the opportunity to practice yoga with us and enjoy Ayurvedic treatments, combined with a three-day expedition to Guptakashi and Badrinath. The trek requires a high degree of physical and spiritual discipline, so those wishing to join us on this sacred walk must be willing to prepare themselves for the experience. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT THIS PILGRIMAGE IS A JOURNEY OF PURIFICATION AND AUSTERITY. PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE A FLEXIBLE ATTITUDE SO THAT THEY CAN ADJUST TO COLD CLIMATES AND SIMPLE ACCOMMODATION. AS PART OF THE AUSTERITY, YOU MAY BE WITHOUT COMFORT FACILITIES SUCH AS HOT WATER OR ELECTRICITY, ETC. IN A VERY COLD CLIMATE.
This itinerary is a sample only and is subject to modifications according to circumstances at the time of the trek.
DAY 1 | Arrival in Delhi: Personal arrangements to travel from New Delhi to Rishikesh, the “world capital” of yoga located at the foot of the sacred Himalayas. |
DAYS 2-4 | Rishikesh: Resting, and following the regular yoga program at the Vedic Yoga Centre – morning hatha yoga/kriya class, free time during the day to prepare for the trek to Badrinath; Ayurveda therapy (available at additional cost); and evening kirtan and satsang. |
DAY 5 | Rishikesh: Early morning hatha yoga/kriya class. Travel to the Vashishta Cave Temple near Rishikesh on the banks of the Ganga for meditation. Evening kirtan and satsang |
DAY 6 | Rishikesh: Early morning hatha yoga/kriya class, free time during the day to prepare for the trek to Badrinath; Ayurveda therapy (available at additional cost); and evening kirtan and satsang. |
DAY 7 | PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PILGRIMAGE IS A JOURNEY OF PURIFICATION AND AUSTERITY. PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE A FLEXIBLE ATTITUDE SO THAT THEY CAN ADJUST TO SITUATIONS AND CIRCUMSTANCES THEY ARE NOT USED TO, OR WHICH ARE OUT OF THEIR CONTROL. AS PART OF THE AUSTERITY, YOU MAY BE WITHOUT COMFORT FACILITIES SUCH AS HOT WATER OR ELECTRICITY, ETC. IN A VERY COLD CLIMATE. Badrinath: Travel to Badrinath in the early morning and arrive in the evening. Visit the ancient Vishnu temple and take a bath in the natural hot springs. |
DAY 8 | Badrinath: Early morning visit the Badrinath temple, Vyasa cave, Bheempul and Mana – the last Indian village near the Indo-Chinese border. Walk to the Vasudhara (Waterfall in the Himalayas). Return to Badrinath in the early afternoon. Stay overnight in Badrinath. Evening satsang and meditation |
DAY 9 | Travel to Rishikesh: Early morning start the return trip to Rishikesh. Along the way, glimpse the Karnaprayag, Vishnuprayag and Nandaprayag. Karnaprayag marks the confluence of the Alakananda and Pindar rivers. Vishnuprayag is the confluence of the Alakananda and Dhauliganga Rivers (where Vishnu appeared to sage Narada). At Nandaprayag, where the Alakananda and Nandakini Rivers merge, Krishna’s father (Nanda) performed a great sacrifice. Return to the Vedic Yoga Centre in Rishikesh. |
DAY 10 | Rishikesh: Early morning hatha yoga/kriya class. Personal time until evening kirtan and satsang |
DAY 11 | Rishikesh: Kanjapuri – Early morning sunrise trip in the nearby mountains. Personal time/Ayurvedic treatments at the Centre (at additional cost)/shopping. Evening kirtan and satsang. |
DAY 12 | Rishikesh: Early morning hatha yoga/kriya class. Take advantage of Ayurvedic treatments offered by the Centre (at additional cost) and/or silent walk to the Waterfall. Evening kirtan and satsang |
DAY 13 | Rishikesh: Early morning short hatha yoga/kriya class and “havan” (fire ceremony). Personal time to do shopping and prepare for departure. |
DAY 14 | Preparation for departure: Early morning hatha yoga class. Preparation for departure according to personal itinerary. |

Please remember that in the mountain hill area of Badrinath there are no Western-style comforts available. The accommodation is clean and safe, and the meals consist of simple and wholesome vegetarian food.
The prices do not include airfare, transfers to and from the Centre, Ayurvedic treatments, tips, any personal excursions during your stay, or personal items, etc.
