This amazing trek is part of a 14-day retreat at the Vedic Yoga Centre which gives you the opportunity of both practicing yoga with us, enjoying Ayurvedic treatments, combined with a three-day expedition to Uttarkashi and Gangotri. The trek requires a high degree of physical and spiritual discipline, so those wishing to join us on this adventure must be willing to prepare themselves beforehand for the experience. This itinerary is a sample only and is subject to modifications according to circumstances at the time of the trek.
DAY 1 | Arrival in Delhi: Personal arrangements to travel from New Delhi to Rishikesh, the “world capital” of yoga located at the foot of the sacred Himalayas. | |
DAYS 2-4 | Rishikesh: Resting, and following the regular yoga program at the Vedic Yoga Centre – morning hatha yoga/kriya class, free time during the day to prepare for the trek to Gangotri; Ayurveda therapy (available at additional cost); and evening kirtan and satsang. | |
DAY 5 | Rishikesh: Early morning hatha yoga/kriya class. Travel to the Vashishta Cave Temple nearby Rishikesh on the banks of the Ganga for meditation. Evening kirtan and satsang. | |
DAY 6 | Rishikesh: Early morning hatha yoga/kriya class. Free time during the day to prepare for the trek to Gangotri. Ayurveda therapy (available at additional cost). Evening kirtan and satsang. | |
DAY 7 | Uttarkashi: Travel to Uttarkashi or Ganganani (depending on the road and weather conditions) and enjoy the beautiful vistas that unfold along the drive. Visit the powerful 2,000 year-old Kashi Vishwanath temple on the way. | |
DAY 8 | Gangotri: Arrive in Gangotri early morning. Visit the Gangotri temple dedicated to Goddess Ganga. Walk to the track at Gomukh (the source of the Ganga, where the name of the river is Bhagirathi). Stay overnight at Bhojbasa. | |
DAY 9 | Gomukh: Early morning walk to Gomukh, the source of the Ganga. View the mountains and the glacier where the holy Ganga has its source. Return to Gangotri (or the hot springs at Ganganani) and stay overnight. | |
DAY 10 | Rishikesh: All day travel to Rishikesh. Arrive in the evening and stay at the Vedic Yoga Centre overnight. | |
DAY 11 | Rishikesh: Early morning hatha yoga/kriya class. Personal time until evening kirtan and satsang. | |
DAY 12 | Rishikesh: Early morning hatha yoga/kriya class. Take advantage of Ayurvedic treatments offered by the Centre (at additional cost) and/or silent walk to the Waterfall. Evening kirtan and satsang. | |
DAY 13 | Rishikesh – Kanjapuri – Early morning sunrise trip. Personal time/Ayurvedic treatments at the Centre (at additional cost)/shopping. Evening kirtan and satsang. | |
DAY 14 | Preparation for departure – Early morning hatha yoga/kriya class. Preparation for departure according to personal itinerary. |

Please remember that in the mountain hill area of Gangotri there are no Western-style comforts available. The accommodation is clean and safe, and the meals consist of simple and wholesome vegetarian food.
The prices do not include airfare, transfers to and from the Centre, Ayurvedic treatments, tips, any personal excursions during your stay, or personal items, etc.
