500 Hour (5 weeks) Yoga Teacher Training Course

500 hour YTT Course is offered for those who have completed both the 200 and 300 hour YTT Courses. It offers the opportunity to advance your yogic practice and refine the learning and experience that you have previously gained. Emphasis will be placed on the ancient teachings of yoga in its purest form, which spring from the various traditional yogic scriptures. You will learn about many aspects of yoga that are not widely practiced such as Samyak Kriya yoga, Nada yoga, Swara yoga and the subtle benefits of mantra yoga. You will also deepen your understanding and experience of hatha yoga. The overall focus of the course is to demonstrate and experience different techniques of providing access to your inner world, and to be able to teach these to others, for their total well-being. Upon completion of the course you will be proficient at teaching all of these traditional aspects of yoga.

This course prepares students to not just be yoga teachers, but to live yoga in all areas of life. The teacher training course is about more than just learning how to teach a class; it is about mastering all aspects of your life so that you become a living example for others.

• MANTRA YOGA (pure sound which shifts your awareness into the present).
• HATHA YOGA (union of body and mind through six cleansing methods, posture, breathing, holding the breath, yogic gestures, and relaxation).
• NADA YOGA (training your awareness through external sound to expand your awareness for the state of meditation).
• SAMYAK KRIYA (a practice of tuning your awareness with your life force and awakening the inner consciousness).
• SWARA YOGA (nostril science).
• RAJA YOGA (a set of practices to attain the state of meditation).


• Yogic (as opposed to scientific) anatomy and physiology.
• The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
• Introduction to the Vedanta and its practical use in our daily life.
• The Bhagavad Gita and its importance in our daily life, which will heal and empower you at every level.

Attendance at all classes is compulsory.
Every Sunday will be a free day apart from the morning Hatha Yoga class and the evening Kirtan session, the times of which will be advised.
Self-study – Self-study is the responsibility of each student. Students are encouraged to read and absorb the information from the Teacher Training Manual and other texts.

Arrival for the Course – Participants are required to arrive at the Vedic Yoga Centre a minimum of two (2) days before commencement of the Course to ensure that they have recovered from any jet lag, and to familiarise themselves with the local facilities.

Cancellations/Refunds – Cancellation after registering for this course will result in the loss of the deposit. Full payment must be made by the first day of the course, and no refunds will be provided once the course has commenced.
Certification – Participants who complete the program receive a Yoga Teacher Certificate and are also eligible to apply for the 500-hour level of registration (RYT) with Yoga Alliance.

Certification requirements include:

• Full attendance in the training intensive;
• Completion of the required readings;
• Successful completion of examinations and written assignments.

This course is only US$3,600 for the month including accommodation, all meals and tuition.

I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend one month at the Vedic Yoga Centre staying as a guest and to study/practice yoga with teacher Shailendra. Whether you're brand new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, there's something to learn and experience here. He's a wonderful teacher and human being - wise, kind, and humble. His devotion to the yogic path and way of life is inspiring and infectious, and he graciously and openly shares his insights and wisdom with students in classes and evening kirtan. I left at the end of the month feeling more peaceful and rested than ever, and empowered to continue my personal daily practice back home in California.

His brother Rajendra, who co-runs the centre with him is also very welcoming, along with the rest of the family who lives onsite. I enjoyed staying in one of the rooms facing the river, being able to wake up to the Ganga every morning was a real treat. There's a shared kitchen available for guests to use, and with the vegetable & fruit stands right out front, it was nice to be able to make some simple home-cooked meals while traveling. The roof is open for use as well and offers a sweeping 180º view of the river bank. The centre is located conveniently near Laxman Jhula but on the quieter side away from all the busy shops. It was truly a blessing to have been able to spend time here and I can't wait until I can come back.

I stayed for 3 weeks at this yoga center 2 years ago. It gave me a good and deep experience of Kriya Yoga. I decided to go back and organized a yoga retreat with my students, so this month our group stayed there for 2 weeks. It was truly a wonderful and fulfilling experience for me as a teacher. Everything worked smoothly from Shailendra's classes to meals and helpful service from his sincere team. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the location couldn't be better. I highly recommend this place for practicing yoga and for getting the Rishikesh experience.
